More efficiency and high output

4-cylinder petrol engines

The completely redeveloped 4-cylinder powerplant with a displacement of 1.6 litres, direct petrol injection, variable valve timing and turbocharger, offers outstanding torque and power and exemplary quiet-running not to mention appropriately low fuel consumption and emissions.

The B 180 BlueEFFICIENCY and B 200 BlueEFFICIENCY models are available to choose from.

  • High efficiency: The high-pressure direct injection via precise piezo injectors and an enhanced combustion process facilitate virtually total combustion and thus higher efficiency, which means that the fuel can be used more efficiently.
  • More efficient technology: The variable valve control results in an optimum cylinder charge level and therefore consumption benefits, which also come courtesy of the lower weight, less internal friction plus ancillaries controlled as required.
  • Impressive figures: The B 180 BlueEFFICIENCY delivers 90 kW and has a maximum torque of 200 Newton metres. The B 200 BlueEFFICIENCY has a maximum torque of 250 and rated output of 115 kW.
  • Lower consumption and fewer emissions: The standard-specification ECO start/stop function improves economy. In addition the BlueDIRECT petrol engines were developed with the aim of substantially reducing fuel consumption and emissions without compromising on output and ride comfort. Both engines also meet the requirements of the Euro 5 emissions class.
