BlueEFFICIENCY measures
The BlueEFFICIENCY measures are comprehensive vehicle optimisations which help save fuel and ease the environmental impact. The SL Roadster combines the most efficient engines with well-designed aerodynamic and energy management measures to keep fuel consumption to a minimum.
The ECO start-stop function can reduce average fuel consumption by momentarily switching off the engine when the vehicle is at a standstill (e.g. at the traffic lights or in a traffic jam).

Significant savings can also be generated by a series of small contributions. With the aim of reducing fuel consumption for the SL Roadster, Mercedes-Benz engineers examined the energy requirements of all important assemblies and developed ways of getting them to work even more economically. Efficiency technologies in the SL Roadster
Direct injection, downsizing, increased compression and turbocharging (V8 engine) in the current petrol engine generation enable top torque, output and noise reduction figures. Innovative engine technology makes it possible to significantly reduce emissions and fuel consumption compared with previous models.
The new BlueDIRECT V6 and V8 engine generation incorporates measures such as downsizing and petrol direct injection. The V8 engine also features two compact turbochargers for fast response. Using the innovative BlueDIRECT engine technology, emissions and fuel consumption were reduced by up to approx. 24 percent compared with predecessor models. |
