Adaptive airbags and kneebags, seat-integrated sidebags and separate windowbags for driver and passenger
ADAPTIVE BRAKE system with HOLD function A large number of components supporting the integrated ADAPTIVE BRAKE system contribute to active safety. The latter increases driving comfort and safety, on the one hand, by working together with the ASR, ESP®, ABS und BAS dynamic control systems to make it easier to perform critical manoeuvres successfully, and on the other hand, through its comfort functions, helping deal with demanding handling situations. These also include the HOLD function which is activated by briefly depressing the brake pedal. The HOLD function then keeps the vehicle from rolling unintentionally when stopped at a light or in stop-and-go traffic. The hill-start assist function prevents the vehicle from rolling back unexpectedly on inclines when changing from the brake to the gas pedal. The "brake drying" function ensures that full braking effect is spontaneously available even under wet conditions. And with the "priming" programme the system reduces the response time of the brakes.
Adaptive LED brake and tail lights
Aluminium spaceframe body The bodyshell of the SLS consists of the aluminium space frame weighing only 241 kg. This exclusive design combines intelligent lightweight construction with outstanding strength, enabling uncompromisingly dynamic handling. It goes without saying that the aluminium space frame meets all passive safety and body quality requirements specified for Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

Bi-xenon headlamps with integrated LED daytime driving lights and LED indicators, as well as a headlamp cleaning unit The bi-xenon headlamps provide higher brightness values, a larger range of light and wider illumination of the road surface than conventional headlamps. In addition, the LED daytime driving lights and the LED indicators make the vehicle more visible to other road users. Extendable high-pressure nozzles allow the headlamps to be cleaned while the car is in motion.

AMG DRIVE UNIT with E-SELECT lever The functional highlight in the interior is the AMG DRIVE UNIT inclined towards the driver. Enjoy the jet-inspired design of the new E-SELECT selector lever for the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission. The driver can choose between P, R, N and D modes by simply touching lightly on the drive-by-wire system. In the vehicle is stationary, the park position is activated by simply pressing the P button – this also happens automatically when the engine is switched off. The rotary control switch for drive modes (including the Race Start function) and buttons for engine start, ESP® functions, AMG memory function and the extendable rear spoiler are also located here.

AMG floor mats
AMG instrument cluster with white-backlit round dials, hanging needles, 360 km/h scale and AMG main menu (including RACETIMER) The AMG instrument cluster (including AMG main menu with RACETIMER) features two puristic round dials within the driver’s field of vision. They provide key information, including road speed, engine speed, fuel level and engine oil temperature. Between the round dials, the driver receives additional data, including kilometre reading, range, fuel consumption, driving distance, driving time and average speed. The instrument panel also features an upshift indicator, which uses seven LEDs to indicate the best moment to change gear.
