Direct steering with variable servo assistance comprises two components: speed-sensitive power assistance which is already known from the speed-sensitive steering function, and a variable steering ratio which is dependent on the steering wheel angle. Together these components make for comfortable manoeuvring at low speeds and also stable straight-line stability at higher speeds.

AIRMATIC provides ride comfort and driving dynamics at the highest level. The air suspension system works in combination with a fully automatic damping adjustment which continually adjusts to the driving situation and provides excellent road roar and tyre vibration characteristics even when the road is only slightly bumpy. In addition the vehicle can be raised on poor or unfavourable stretches of road to increase ground clearance. When driving continually at a high speed the vehicle is automatically lowered. This improves handling and reduces wind resistance - an additional contribution to reducing fuel consumption.

The sports suspension enhances the dynamic appearance of the vehicle, while the tauter suspension and damper settings make an even sportier driving style possible without major loss of ride comfort.
