Whether the vario–roof is closed or open – the design objective of creating holistic aesthetics with a harmonious interaction between progress and tradition has been successfully implemented in the new SL Roadster.

The elegant interior impresses with its perfect design. The sweeping dashboard flows into the door waistline forming a unit; at the same time it is ergonomic and geared intelligently towards the driver. The air vents on the frontal area with their "turbine look", interpret an emotional reminiscence of the tradition of historical Mercedes-Benz sports cars.

The three-spoke multifunction sports steering wheel with galvanised spokes is flattened in its lower section and likewise carries with it reminders of racing sport aesthetics. This also holds true for the instrument cluster with its colour display and dials of classic design including 3D dial surrounds and backlit scales.

A wealth of trim elements in fine wood, or alternatively in aluminium, enhances its luxurious character.

The design of the comfortable seats speaks for itself. The standard upholstery in a fabric/black leather combination or the optional select leather varieties not only have a wonderful feel, they are also sunlight-reflecting.

The optional ambient lighting with individually selectable colour tones (SOLAR orange, SOLAR red and SOLAR) provides an indirect light ambience for the vehicle interior when driving at night. Luminous surfaces on the instrument panel and beneath the door trim elements mirror and enhance the sweeping forms of the interior design creating an incomparable atmosphere.
