KEYLESS GO is an electronic drive authorisation system. A key is not required to unlock or start the vehicle. All the driver needs to do is carry the KEYLESS GO key and pull the door handle. The car is started by simply pressing the start/stop button. The "hands-free access" convenience function facilitates loading and unloading the boot by opening and closing the boot lid automatically when a sensor detects that the driver has placed his foot under the rear of the car.

The Active Body Control (ABC) active suspension provides the maximum driving comfort combined with enhanced driving dynamics through a combination of active suspension and passive damping. With it, the sprung mass vibrations of the vehicle body when pulling away and braking can be reduced just as significantly as vehicle roll when cornering.

The driver can choose between the two settings "Comfort" and "Sport". The combination of active suspension and passive damping means that vehicle occupants need hardly make any compromise in ride comfort, even when the suspension set-up is sporty. At high speeds the vehicle body is automatically lowered, to improve driving stability on high-speed road stretches.

The AMG performance suspension has been fine-tuned to the vehicle and enhances its dynamic appearance. The AMG Performance suspension enables an even sportier driving style without compromising ride comfort. It is made possible by tauter spring and damper settings in both suspension settings.

Active Parking Assist makes parking the vehicle considerably easier. It automatically steers the new SL Roadster into parking spaces while the driver need only operate the gas pedal and brake.

The Active Parking Assist function automatically begins a parking space search at speeds below 36 km/h. As soon as the speed of the SL drops below this figure, Active Parking Assist shows a "P" and a direction arrow in the instrument cluster to indicate that it has detected a suitable parking space.

If the driver engages reverse and confirms the parking space offered, the Active Parking Assist feature completes the parking manoeuvre on its own at speeds of less than 10 km/h. All the driver is required to do is operate the accelerator and brake pedals, and after a maximum of five moves the parking procedure will have been completed. The driver can intervene to correct the manoeuvre at any moment.

If Active Parking Assist is not used, the PARKTRONIC electronic parking aid monitors the front and the rear sectors, warning the driver if it detects a danger of collision. The function is active at speeds of up to 16 km/h.

The interior monitoring system monitors the vehicle interior using ultrasound, and triggers an alarm if it registers intrusion. Tow-away protection protects against illegal lifting or towing of the vehicle.

The reversing camera offers convenience and added safety. Integrated in the boot lid, the camera shows an image of the area behind the vehicle to the COMAND screen. The camera image not only makes parking easier but also aids in manoeuvring on terrain with visibility limitations.

Prepare yourself professionally for every journey: with the AMG Performance Media information system you can enter, visualise and save vehicle-specific data such as coolant and motor oil temperature, torque or accelerator pedal position, plus analyse any driving routes including sector and lap times for the next journey.

The system offers the possibility of downloading apps and making vehicle settings. All information is shown on the COMAND display and the functions are accessed via the COMAND Controller.

Fourteen high-performance speakers and an additional MOST with Digital Sound Processing provide a three-dimensional sound impression. The automatic volume control adjusts the sound in line with the car’s current speed. In addition to this, the Mercedes-Benz Signature Sound DVD is delivered with the system; it permits listeners to experience the entire sound and output spectrum of the sound system.

The preinstallation in the armrest with a universal interface for diverse cradles enables problem-free use of different mobile telephones as well as the use of the extensive range of functions offered by the mobile telephone. The integrated, invisible exterior aerial ensures the best possible reception.

The Media Interface with consumer cable kit is a universal interface in the centre console with which mobile audio/video devices can be connected to the multimedia system. You can comfortably access a USB stick, for example, or your iPod® using the vehicle’s control and display units.

The TV tuner makes it possible to watch television during driving breaks. The receiver unit processes both analogue and digital signals and is controlled using the COMAND or COMAND Online control and display system, whose display is positioned in the driver’s central field of vision and also shows the image.

Sound output is via the vehicle's speaker system. The receiving aerial is integrated in the rear window. At speeds above approx. 6 km/h, the image is switched off for safety reasons and reappears when the speed falls below this limit.

The fuel tank with a capacity of 75 litres provides increased range so that it’s not necessary to make an unplanned visit to a filling station to refuel.

The adaptive wiper system is a world premiere and is featured by a series production vehicle for the very first time. The innovation: the windscreen washer fluid is sprayed and spread directly in front of the wiper blade. Little nozzles in a distributor rail above the wiper blade conduct the washer fluid directly before the blade on its return stroke.

Then the fluid is wiped away without delay so that the driver’s vision is obstructed as briefly as possible, and at the same time the amount of liquid used is reduced. In addition, when driving with an open top, the risk of being wet by the washer fluid is lessened. With the heated windscreen washer system, the washer fluid reservoir, the adaptive wiper system and the washer fluid hoses are heated, thus better protected against freezing up. This makes it easier to clean the windscreen at low outside temperatures.

The panoramic vario-roof with MAGIC SKY CONTROL is an innovation in the new SL. The roof glass unit changes its tone at the touch of a button from dark to transparent and vice versa within seconds. This way driver and passenger can enjoy a view of the sky even when the roof is closed. And when the glass is darkened, the heating up of the vehicle interior is considerably reduced.

Less than 20 seconds to open or close. As standard, the roof can also be opened or closed from the outside by means of the vehicle key via an infra-red signal.

With the panoramic vario roof you enjoy the free view offered by a roadster in the comfort of a closed coupé. The roof unit includes a large tinted glass element, so that you can always enjoy a free view of the sky above. A manually-operated roller sunblind protects against excessive sunlight.

Paint finishes diamond white metallic BRIGHT and cerussite grey SHAPE place the new SL Roadster in a very special light thanks to iridescent effects and high-sheen reflections.

With the preinstallation, a battery charger with trickle charge function can be conveniently connected in the boot.

The new electric draught-stop provides for the best possible freedom from draughts at the touch of a button on the centre console. If the driver or passenger presses the draught-stop button, an electric motor folds out a trapezoidal frame from the rear trim. Extended on this frame is a finely-woven textile fabric that keeps the passenger area virtually draught-free.

The ambient lighting provides a pleasant indirect lighting effect inside the vehicle at night. Luminous surfaces on the instrument panel and under the door trim elements as well as in the rear trim create an incomparable atmosphere.

The ambient lighting is activated and deactivated with the outside lighting. When the doors are opened it is also switched on in order to provide a "welcome home" effect. With its three adjustable and continuously dimmable colour ambiences "SOLAR orange", "SOLAR red" and "SOLAR", the ambient lighting function highlights the interior design and creates pleasant light conditions for driving at night.

The AMG carbon fibre trim elements on covers and stowage compartments of the centre console and the trim strips in the door armrests continue in the vehicle interior additional sporty highlights, providing a Formula-1 flair.

The cup holders in the centre console and the bottle holder in the rear stowage compartment provide ample space for drinks and bottles.

The garage door opener integrated in the rear-view mirror makes it possible to operate the garage door and other receiver units directly from the car without requiring a separate remote control.

The boot lid remote control makes it possible to comfortably open the boot lid by means of the remote control button of the electronic key, or by pressing a key in the vehicle interior or one on the boot lid itself. In addition, the new SL features an integrated EASY-PACK function: if the boot lid is opened using the boot lid remote control while the roof is open, the roof rises a little after the boot lid is opened in order to facilitate loading. When the "close" button is pressed, the roof is lowered to the retracted position once again and the boot lid is closed.

The wood/leather steering wheel underscores the elegance of the vehicle interior in a special way, lending it exclusivity. It features wood inlays of the very same wood chosen for the interior, radiating a very special high-class appeal through the quality of its craftsmanship.

AIRSCARF neck-level heating extends the open-top season by making it possible to drive with an open Vario-roof, even when outside temperatures are low. At the push of a button, small fans on the back of the head restraints draw in air, which is then heated and blown out through a vent in the front of the seat. It warms the neck and neck like an invisible scarf.

The multicontour seats take pressure off the spine and can be precisely adjusted to the anatomic characteristics of the driver and the front passenger. The pressure can be individually set in the variable air cushions of the seat surface side bolsters and backrests, and the curvature of the lumbar area can be adjusted to your personal requirements.

The climatised seats improve ride comfort and reduce transpiration with a pleasant air flow and selectable seat heating.

Fans integrated in the seat upholstery uniformly distribute a flow of air in three intensity levels under the leather backrest and cushion covers. The air flows through the fine perforations and quickly cools the surface of the seats to a pleasant temperature – even if the vehicle has been heated by intense sunlight for a longer period of time. On cold days you can turn on the three-level adjustable seat heating.
