In combination with variable damper control, the air suspension system ensures ride comfort and dynamic handling at a very high level. The damping at each wheel is adapted to the current driving situation, and can be set for more comfortable or sporty characteristics as required.

It is also possible to raise the vehicle on bad roads or difficult ramps. The vehicle is automatically lowered at higher speeds, to give greater driving stability and reduced wind resistance - an additional contribution to reducing fuel consumption.

The Direct-Steer system adds to the comfort of speed-sensitive power steering with a variable steering ratio dependent on the steering wheel angle. On winding roads this leads e.g. to more agile vehicle response and increases straight-line stability.

This makes, on the one hand, comfortable manoeuvring at low speeds, and on the other hand, stable straight-line characteristics at high speed possible. The electrically adjustable steering wheel with the EASY-ENTRY system provides additional comfort.

This anticipatory suspension system provides unrivalled comfort, as it already adapts to undulations or potholes before the car reaches them. A stereo camera is used to scan the road ahead so that the damping at each wheel can be optimally adapted for upcoming uneven stretches.

From the images and data gleaned about the condition of the road surface, the system calculates the correct strategy for adjusting in advance the damping of each wheel so as to deal in the best possible way with the unevenness ahead.

This strategy is then put into practice by the proven ABC (Active Body Control) suspension system with integrated Continous Damping Control so effectively that vibrations are almost imperceptible in the interior. In addition, the hydraulic all-round self-levelling system keeps the vehicle body level constant, independently of the load it is carrying.
