Using this service allows the reception of up-to-date and precise traffic information for optimised dynamic route guidance and a more accurate estimated time of arrival. Data transfer is via a communication module using a fast mobile internet connection. Live Traffic Information registers and transmits a large amount of traffic data from various sources. These are available within seconds of starting the vehicle, and are updated every two to three minutes via the existing mobile phone connection.

24 specially designed speakers, 24 amplifier channels with a total system output of 1540 watts, as well as technologies developed specifically for the vehicle, ensure an extraordinarily expressive and intriguing 3D sound – the Burmester "feel-good sound". With this 3D surround sound, passengers are able to experience and enjoy mono, stereo and 5.1 music signals three-dimensionally. This is done with the help of special Burmester algorithms and three speakers integrated into the roof liner. The VIP setting makes it possible to adjust the sound individually for the driver, front passenger and passengers on the left and right in the rear. To suit personal tastes, individual sound adjustments can be made with the five sound presets "Pure", "Easy Listening", "Live", "Surround" and "3D Surround".

With 13 high-performance speakers and a 9-channel DSP amplifier with a total power output of 590 watts the system calibrated to the vehicle ensures first-class Burmester "feel-good sound". The impressive listening experience can be further enhanced upon request. The surround function generates a virtual surround sound from a mono or stereo sound signal for maximising the surround effect. The front/rear optimisation allows adjusting the sound specifically to the front or rear seats.

The handset with touchscreen serves both as a telephone and as a remote control for the seat functions of the optional Rear-Seat Comfort package. Depending on specifications the receiver is located in a cradle in the rear armrest or the centre console, which automatically charges it. Operation is intuitive using four keys and a touchscreen. Text, numbers and symbols can be rapidly and easily entered using the on-screen keyboard. Navigation, telephone, audio, video, internet – with the COMAND Online control and display system the driver keeps these and many other functions in sight and under control. Information is shown on a 31.2-cm high-resolution colour display. Operation is intuitive. A fast hard-drive-based navigation with realistic topographical map display guides you stress-free to your destination. In combination with a suitable mobile phone it is possible to call up internet pages when the vehicle is stationary, and to use Mercedes-Benz apps such as POI search, weather or internet radio while driving. An integrated WLAN hotspot also allows integration of a notebook or tablet PC. An auxiliary aerial and a digital receiver allow listening to terrestrial broadcasts of digital radio programmes. DAB digital radio offers excellent reception quality and valuable additional information about e.g. traffic or the radio programme. Switching between analogue and digital reception is automatic according to network coverage and signal strength. The radio menu in the COMAND system gives the option of manually switching from digital to analogue mode. The DAB tuner supports both DAB signals and also the DAB+ and DMB standards. The signals are received through an additional roof aerial.

DVD films, internet, video games, music – the Individual Entertainment system gives passengers in the rear their very personal entertainment programme. Two 25.4-cm displays and wireless headphones provide brilliant picture and sound quality. The displays in the backs of the driver's and front passenger's seats can be operated individually without the need for the front occupants to be involved. A universal interface in the centre console lets you easily connect portable media players such as iPod® or iPhone®. The audio and video contents are thus conveniently controlled and reproduced first-class via the infotainment systems of the vehicle.
