DISTRONIC PLUS proximity control with STEER CONTROL and Stop & Go Pilot (optional) The driving assistance system helps the driver to maintain a safe distance from the traffic ahead and to keep the vehicle in the centre of the lane. DISTRONIC PLUS with STEER CONTROL and Stop & Go Pilot make your life easier, particularly on long journeys and when following vehicles in a traffic jam. {C} Available only in conjunction with the optional Driving Assistance Package PLUS.
DISTRONIC PLUS adaptive cruise control, including COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS (optional) The innovative driver assistance system automatically helps drivers to keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front and removes some of the strain on long journeys and in stop-and-go traffic. COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS warns of falling below the safe following distance visually and audibly. The radar-based system brakes the vehicle where necessary and then accelerates it again up to the desired speed where this is possible. This reduces the risk of rear-end collisions and increases driving comfort. The choice of "Economy" or "Sport" drive mode also influences the driving characteristics of the automatic proximity control function. In "Sport" mode, for example, the vehicle accelerates more decidedly and dynamically when changing lane. The system places more emphasis on comfort in the "Economy" mode. "Undertaking" on motorways and similar main roads is prevented by setting the proximity control to vehicles in the overtaking lane. If there is danger of a collision despite the braking intervention from DISTRONIC PLUS, the COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS is actuated to try to prevent an accident occurring. Available only in conjunction with the 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission.
Active Lane Keeping Assist (optional) The system can identify an unintentional drifting out of lane, send a haptic warning (steering-wheel vibrations) to the driver, and can help to return the vehicle to the correct lane by selectively braking individual wheels. Available only in conjunction with the optional Driving Assistance Package PLUS.
Active Blind Spot Assist (optional) The system makes one of the biggest dangers in road traffic visible – vehicles in the blind spot. If changing lane, for example, it can warn the driver and apply selective braking to individual wheels to avert a potential collision. If a vehicle is detected within the monitored range, a warning symbol is displayed in the driver's exterior mirror. Should the driver overlook the warning and start to change lanes, the ESP® system can intervene actively and guide the vehicle back into the lane. Available only in conjunction with the optional Driving Assistance Package PLUS.
ATTENTION ASSIST We are watching you. But only with your safety in mind. Our analysis of your driving ensures that you remember to take a break. For your own safety. In particular on long trips and when driving at night this system can increase driving safety. Based on the driver's actions ATTENTION ASSIST recognises typical signs of fatigue and severe inattentiveness and issues visual and audible warnings of impending microsleep.
Brake Assist system BAS PLUS with Cross-Traffic Assist (optional) The anticipatory Brake Assist system BAS PLUS can reduce the risk of rear-end and junction collisions. Radar sensors and a stereo camera are used to permanently record and evaluate the situation ahead of the vehicle. In doing so, the system assesses not only the vehicle ahead, but also – up to a speed of 72 km/h – crossing vehicles and pedestrians. If the driver identifies a potential accident and applies the brakes, BAS PLUS supplies additional braking pressure to ideally prevent a collision. If an impact is unavoidable, a full brake application reduces the impact speed as much as possible. Part of the Driving Assistance package Plus.
COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS Today's vehicles offer an increasing number of anticipatory technologies. Our vehicles are becoming "thinking" partners capable of "seeing", "feeling" and even "acting independently". This system is undoubtedly one of the best on the market. Too small of a gap between vehicles is one of the main causes of severe accidents. COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS helps to minimise the danger of a rear-end collision and mitigate the consequences of an accident. The driving assistance system combines a radar-based distance warning system with Adaptive Brake Assist braking support and independent partial braking. A warning light appears in the instrument cluster if the distance to the vehicle ahead falls below a preset value for several seconds within the speed range 30 to 250 km/h. An intermittent tone is also sounded if the distance continues to reduce quickly. A potential collision with a moving object can be identified within the speed range 7 to 250 km/h – and with a stationary obstacle within the range 7 to around 70 km/h. If the driver responds with emergency braking, Adaptive Brake Assist can help. If required, it boosts braking pressure to help prevent a collision where possible. If the driver does not respond, the system initiates autonomous partial braking. This significantly reduces road speed and the driver receives an additional haptic warning. At low relative speeds, this intervention is sufficient to prevent a rear-end collision. In contrast to the area of application for Adaptive Brake Assist, independent partial braking in response to moving objects is available only up to 105 km/h – with DISTRONIC PLUS up to 200 km/h. Driving Assistance package Plus (optional) The highlight of our comprehensive safety concept: We make your life easier on long journeys and in traffic congestion. We alert you to dangerous situations and offer a range of measures to help you to handle potential accident scenarios more effectively. With combinable safety and comfort features, Driving Assistance Package PLUS makes an active contribution to safety on the road. The proximity control, lane change control, blind spot warning and stopping distance optimisation functions can play a crucial role in ensuring a safe journey. If a potential collision is detected at speeds between 30 and 200 km/h, the PRE-SAFE® brake sends visual and audible signals to the driver. If the driver does not respond to this warning, it initiates autonomous partial braking approximately 1.6 seconds before the calculated impact with a deceleration rate of up to 4m/s2. If the system assesses the situation as highly critical and there is still no reaction from the driver, an independent full brake application can be initiated automatically 0.6 seconds before what has been classified as an unavoidable impact. If required: In an emergency braking situation, the Brake Assist system BAS PLUS can help to reduce the stopping distance by apply braking pressure according to the situation. Operating at speeds of between 30 and 250 km/h, Active Blind Spot Assist deploys a radar system to monitor the area behind the vehicle and the blind spots on the left and right. If a vehicle is detected in the monitored area, a warning signal appears in the relevant exterior mirror. If the driver fails to notice the warning and starts to change lane, the system can intervene using ESP®. Active Lane Keeping Assist continuously monitors lane markings on the road. Should the vehicle drift over a line or marking in an uncontrolled manner, the system can respond with active braking intervention. DISTRONIC PLUS proximity control maintains the speed set by the driver and automatically controls the distance to the vehicles ahead. Integrated STEER CONTROL helps the driver to hold lane. Available only in conjunction with 7G-TRONIC PLUS.
PRE-SAFE® brake (optional) If a potential collision with a vehicle or pedestrian is identified, the PRE-SAFE® brake sends an audible and visual warning to the driver. If the driver does not respond to this warning, the system can provide independent braking assistance right up to a full brake application. In this way accidents can be avoided or the consequences of an accident reduced. Available only in conjunction with the optional Driving Assistance Package PLUS.
PRE-SAFE® PLUS (optional) If a rear-end collision threatens, this extension of the PRE-SAFE® system is able to initiate preventive occupant protection measures. These include warning follow-on traffic or applying the brakes when the vehicle is not moving and the driver indicates that the vehicle is at a standstill. PRE-SAFE® system (optional) Every Mercedes-Benz vehicle boasts decades of experience in safety technology – making critical situations more and more unlikely. If things should nevertheless get serious, this system is at hand to provide preventive and protective measures. The PRE-SAFE® system delivers a combination of active and passive protection. Seat belts and airbags can protect vehicle occupants more effectively if they incorporate active systems such as driving assistance packages or Brake Assist. PRE-SAFE® evaluates sensor data from other systems, such as the Electronic Stability Program ESP® and Brake Assist system BAS, and can identify scenarios such as heavy over/understeer and emergency braking. The system is able to identify critical handling situations in advance and initiate preventive measures for occupant protection in the event of an impending accident. These include reversible belt tensioning for the front seats and automatic closing of side windows. The system has the following functions: Extends occupant safety by deploying protective mechanisms Protects occupants from flying parts and objects entering the vehicle Boosts the protective effect of seat belts and airbags (according to vehicle model and other equipment)
Lane Tracking Package (optional) We keep you on track. And warn you if another vehicle gets too close to you. Or you to the other vehicle. An intelligent system that you will soon come to appreciate. The combination of Blind Spot Assist and Lane Keeping Assist bears a two-fold safety benefit. The systems can warn drivers visually and audibly of vehicles in the blind spot and use pulsating steering-wheel vibrations to indicate inadvertent lane departures. If a vehicle is detected in the blind spot area, a red triangle appears in the relevant exterior mirror. If the driver fails to notice the warning and indicates to signal a lane change, the warning light starts to flash and an audible warning is sounded. Lane Keeping Assist can identify an unintentional drifting out of lane, send a haptic warning (steering-wheel vibrations) to the driver. Only available in conjunction with the Mirror package.
