Active Multicontour Seat package The Active Multicontour Seat with NECK-PRO luxury head restraints allows effective adjustment to individual seating requirements, adapts itself to every driving situation, massages the back muscles and reduces the risk of injury in the event of an accident. Depending on the steering angle, lateral acceleration and speed, the air cushions in the seat side bolsters can be tightened pneumatically in two stages to guarantee the best possible lateral support even when the driver employs a very dynamic driving style. After the dynamic function is switched off, the previously selected pressure in the side chambers is automatically reset symmetrically. - Very good for your back: The massage function reduces symptoms of fatigue in the back muscles on long journeys as it supports the principle of "dynamic sitting" – as recommended by orthopaedic specialists.
- Award-winning seat: The active multicontour seat has been given the AGR quality seal by the "Aktion gesunder Rücken e. V." ("Campaign for healthy backs") awarded to products which are especially good for the back.
- More safety: When PRE-SAFE® is activated, the PRE-SAFE® positioning function (in conjunction with the optional Memory package) can automatically move the front passenger seat into a position which is more favourable in the event of an accident .

| | Driving Assistance Package PLUS The optimised Driving Assistance package Plus can make an active contribution to everyday road safety. The proximity control, lane-change control and Blind Spot Assist functions together with the brake system optimisation all contribute decisively to safe travel and a safe arrival. Overview of equipment:
DISTRONIC PLUS proximity control with the new STEER CONTROL feature can help the driver maintain a specified distance from the vehicle ahead or keep to a previously selected speed. Beyond this, not only the distance to the vehicle travelling in front is measured, because the system also guides itself by the road surface markings, helping the driver to keep in lane. The required corrections are carried out via the electric steering, the driver receives feedback by means of the steering wheel as well as via a steering wheel icon in the instrument cluster. Active Blind Spot Assist uses radar and monitors the blind spot areas to the left, right and rear of the vehicle. If a vehicle is detected within the monitored sector, a warning symbol is displayed in the driver's exterior mirrorShould the driver overlook the warning and start to change lane, the ESP® system can intervene actively.
Active Lane Keeping Assist monitors the lane markings continuously.Should the system identify that the vehicle is drifting over a line or markings in an uncontrolled manner, it can counter this with an active braking intervention The extended system, implemented for the first time in the new E-Class, also detects additional hazards when crossing a broken line and when overtaking, as well as oncoming traffic.
Until the present, the BAS PLUS predictive brake assist system has helped the driver in a linear flow of traffic with vehicles travelling ahead or stationary obstacles in the event of impending rear-end collisions. The system is active up to a speed of 250 km/h and provides the necessary braking force if the driver performs an emergency braking manoeuvre. Now for the first time in the new E-Class, the expanded BAS PLUS function also covers crossing objects (Cross-Traffic Assist) and pedestrians (pedestrian protection), something that is particularly relevant in urban traffic and at junctions. Objects crossing the vehicle's path as well as stationary or slowly-moving pedestrians in the active area in front of the vehicle can be detected by the system, the driver can be warned and supported in an emergency braking manoeuvre at speeds of up to 72 km/h.
The PRE-SAFE® brake can help prevent rear-end collisions. The system emits three warning tones to alert the driver if it detects an imminent danger of a rear-end collision. If the driver does not react, the system initiates autonomous partial braking 1.6 seconds before the calculated time of impact, decelerating the vehicle with around 40 percent of maximum braking power (4 m/s2). This provides another prompt for the driver to act. Should the driver also fail to react to this haptic signal, the PRE-SAFE® brake will if necessary trigger an autonomous emergency stop. In the new generation of the E-Class the PRE-SAFE® brake now also acts in conjunction with detected pedestrians.
The extended PRE-SAFE® PLUS function can recognise and initiate safety measures to protect vehicle occupants not only against hazards located in front of the vehicle, it can also react to potential dangers behind the car. PRE-SAFE® PLUS features a radar sensor in the rear bumper that detects objects in imminent danger of collision, and can initiate appropriate preventive measures such as stopping short. This system is complemented by the height-adjustable seat belt buckle extender on the outer rear seats. They facilitate fastening the seat belts and ensure safety-relevant pre-tensioning of the belts in the event that the Pre-Safe® mechanisms are triggered in a dangerous situation.
| | A lofty, luxury-class-level, seating feeling is offered by the luxury individual rear seats with luxury head restraints. In addition, the luxury individual seats impress with their leather upholstery, seat heating, large stowage compartment with cup holder between the individual seats (with a longitudinally divided armrest). The Sun Protection package with an electric roller blind for the rear window and manually-operated blinds in the rear doors as well as luxury double sun screens (extensible, two-piece folding, with vanity mirror) is also included in the exclusive scope of the package.
| | In the event of a collision, the Rear Seat Safety package can significantly reduce the risk of injury to passengers in the rear. The package consists of sidebags as well as adaptive belt force limiters for the outer seat positions in the rear.
| | The KEYLESS-GO package delivers even greater convenience. This electronic access and drive authorisation system enables the driver to access the vehicle and start the engine without using the vehicle key. All the driver needs to do is carry the KEYLESS GO transponder and pull the door handle. The car is started by simply pressing the start/stop button. The HANDS-FREE ACCESS convenience function makes loading and unloading the boot easier, by opening or closing the boot lid automatically when a sensor detects that the driver has placed his foot under the rear of the car.
| | With the memory package the front seats, front seat head restraints, steering column and exterior mirrors can be adjusted electrically to any position. This increases convenience when there is a frequent change of drivers, storing the individual driver seat, steering column and exterior mirror settings for up to three people In addition the package features 4-way lumbar support for the driver and front passenger. The front-passenger mirror swivels automatically downwards when reverse is engaged (parking position) to provide a better overview when reversing.
As soon as a driver selects a setting with the touch of a button, electric controls automatically set the seat, exterior mirrors and steering column back to the previously saved positions. If the PRE-SAFE® system is activated, the front passenger seat can be moved automatically into a more favourable crash position. If the collision is then avoided, the multicontour seats are returned to their initial position once certain critical limit values are undercut.
In conjunction with the active multicontour seat option, the PRE-SAFE® positioning function can become active in the event of danger. If the system detects a critical situation, the side bolsters of cushion and backrest are inflated, providing lateral support for driver and passenger.
| | Multicontour seat package The multicontour seats take pressure off the spine and can be precisely adjusted to the ergonomic characteristics of the driver and the front passenger. The pressure can be individually set in the variable air cushions of the seat backrest side bolsters and in the curvature of the lumbar area. The controls are at the side of the seat cushion, between seat surface and centre console. The package also includes the PRE-SAFE® positioning function which enables preventive protection measures for driver and front passenger. If the PRE-SAFE® system detects a critical situation, the side bolsters of the backrest are inflated, providing lateral restraint for driver and front passenger. If a collision is avoided, the multicontour seats are deflated again once certain critical thresholds are undercut.
| | Parking package with 360-degree camera The Parking package helps the driver in tight parking and manoeuvring situations and comes with an innovation: A 360-degree camera system displays the vehicle's surroundings from a bird's-eye perspective on the screen of the COMAND Online multimedia system. The Parking package makes it easier to judge a situation in all manoeuvring situations by monitoring all four sides of the vehicle. By means of the visual display it also provides assistance to the driver in off-road excursions on arduous terrain and it can audibly and visually warn of obstacles in front of and behind the vehicle, thereby preventing damage when manoeuvring.
- 360° camera: The system comprises a short-range camera system with four cameras and a control unit, which together can provide a bird's-eye view of the vehicle and its surroundings One camera is fitted in the centre of the radiator grille at the front, one camera is fitted in each of the exterior mirrors and one camera is fitted in the centre of the rear door The resulting "virtual viewpoint" produced by the camera images covers an area of approximately three metres in front of and behind the vehicle The images are shown on a display in the head unit When reversing or parking, additional guide lines are displayed to help orientation and the parking manoeuvre The swivel range when turning the wheel is shown along the sides of the vehicle The camera image changes automatically when the gear is changed (forwards/reversing) The four camera views can also be selected individually through the central controls in the head unit
- Active Parking Assist At speeds of up to 36 km/h Active Parking Assist looks for suitable parking spaces with the two ultrasound sensors in the front bumper. The automatic parking space search function is indicated by a "P" symbol in the instrument cluster. If Active Parking Assist has found a parking space, an arrow appears next to the "P". By default, Active Parking Assist searches for parking spaces on the right-hand side of the road. If the indicator on the driver's side is active, parking spaces on the left-hand side are also detected The driver starts the parking manoeuvring process by stopping ahead of the indicated parking space, selecting reverse and confirming the prompt which appears in the instrument cluster. Active Parking Assist steers up to a speed of 10 km/h. The driver only operates the accelerator and the brake pedal. The parking manoeuvre is completed in a maximum of 5 moves. The final parking move is indicated by the message "Parking Assist complete" in the display. This message is accompanied by an acoustic signal.<
- PARKTRONIC: The system gives visible and audible signals to warn of obstacles it detects in front of the vehicle and behind. It is active up to a speed of about 16 km/h.
| | The Smoker package provides a conveniently positioned ashtray and cigarette lighter in the vehicle. The cigarette lighter also serves as a 12 Volt socket. The package takes the place of the front stowage compartment.
| | The electrically operated rear window roller sunblind protects the passengers from direct sunlight and reduces the temperature in the vehicle interio The electric rear window blind can be conveniently operated from both the driver's seat and the front-passenger seat at the touch of a button. The blinds in the rear doors can also preserve the privacy of the vehicle. Thanks to perforations in the blind material, there is practically no sight restriction from inside the vehicle.
| | The automatic dimming function for the interior/exterior mirrors on the driver’s side helps to enhance safety and comfort. The exterior mirrors can be completely folded in/out electrically from the comfort of the operating panel. | | The tactile warning provided in the event of unintentional lane departure and the visual and acoustic warning of the presence of a vehicle in the blind spot contribute to reduce driver stress, in particular on long journeysThe innovative Lane Tracking Package includes Blind Spot Assist and Lane Keeping Assist and significantly enhances safety in road traffic.
The Lane Keeping Assist feature warns the driver by means of a discreet vibration of the steering wheel as soon as he unintentionally drifts across the lane markings which have been registered by the system, and leaves the lane he is in. If, prior to crossing the lane, the indicator had been actuated or the steering wheel firmly turned, the system assumes that the lane change is intentional and does not react.
Blind Spot Assist helps the driver to avoid potentially critical situations by monitoring the areas to the left and right of the vehicle when changing lanes. If the system detects another vehicle within the monitoring range, a hazard warning triangle lights up in the corresponding exterior mirror.

AIRMATIC air suspension with stepless damper adjustment[3], [5], [6], [7] AIRMATIC provides ride comfort and driving dynamics at the highest level. The air suspension system works in combination with a fully automatic damping adjustment which continually adapts to the driving situation and provides excellent road roar and tyre vibration characteristics even when the road is only slightly bumpy. In addition the vehicle can be raised on poor or unfavourable stretches of road to increase ground clearance. When driving continually at a high speed the vehicle is automatically lowered. This improves handling and reduces wind resistance - an additional contribution to reducing fuel consumption.
| | AMG ceramic high-performance composite brake system[1] | | | DIRECT CONTROL suspension, lowered with sports tuning[3], [8] Reduced steering requirement, improved agility and steering convenience, particularly high straight-line stability at speed, good consumption levels and a sportier look: These are the benefits delivered by the sporty-set-up DIRECT CONTROL suspension with vehicle body lowered by 15 mm (standard for AVANTGARDE, Exterior Sports package and AMG Sports package).

The 360-degree camera system displays the vehicle's surroundings from a bird's-eye perspective on the screen of the COMAND Online multimedia system. As all four sides of the vehicle are monitored, it is easier to assess the situation in any manoeuvre.
The system comprises a short-range camera system with four cameras and a control unit, which together can provide a bird's-eye view of the vehicle and its surroundings One camera is fitted in the centre of the radiator grille at the front, one camera is fitted in each of the exterior mirrors and one camera is fitted in the centre of the boot lidThe 'virtual viewpoint' created by the camera images covers an area of about three metres in front of the vehicle and behind. The image is displayed on the head unit screen.
When reversing or parking, additional guide lines, already familiar from the reversing camera function, are displayed to help orientation and the parking manoeuvre. The swivel range when turning the wheel is shown along the sides of the vehicle. The camera image changes automatically when the gear is changed (forwards/reversing). The four camera views can also be selected individually through the central controls in the head unit.
| | Adaptive Highbeam Assist PLUS[4] | | | Active Parking Assist including PARKTRONIC[4] Active Parking Assist helps the driver when searching for a parking place and when parking. With its ultrasound sensors the system can detect whether a lengthways or side-on parking space is large enough. Active Parking Assist makes a major contribution to safe and comfortable driving. It helps the driver find a suitable parking space to park lengthways or sideways and helps the driver to enter into, and exit from, the parking space by active steering intervention. The integrated PARKTRONIC warns drivers if there are obstacles in front of the car or behind it.
The driver starts the parking manoeuvring process by stopping ahead of the indicated parking space, selecting reverse and confirming the prompt which appears in the instrument cluster. Active Parking Assist takes steering into the parking space by means of steering motors (at speeds of up to 10 km/h). The driver only operates the accelerator and the brake pedal.
| | ACSR automatic child-seat recognition for passenger seat in conjunction with child seats with transponder approved by Mercedes-Benz[4] The automatic child seat recognition can recognise special transponders in the special child seat models from the Mercedes-Benz accessories range and automatically deactivates the front-passenger airbag. An indicator lamp lights up to confirm that the airbag has been deactivated. The belt tensioner and all other airbags on the front-passenger side – such as the sidebag, pelvisbag or windowbag – remain active in order to protect the child. The front-passenger airbag is reactivated automatically after the child seat has been removed.
| | Collapsible spare tyre including tyre-change tool kit instead of TIREFIT tyre sealant[1] | | | Fire extinguisher mounted at front of driver’s seat | | | Minispare wheel in place of TIREFIT tyre sealant[3], [6] | | | Tyre pressure monitoring system[12] The tyre pressure monitoring system boosts safety by alerting the driver to critical drops in tyre pressure. The wheel electronics system continuously transmits tyre pressures and temperature data to the vehicle’s control unit. If the system identifies a variance, it warns the driver through a signal in the instrument cluster.
| | Run-flat tyres instead of TIREFIT tyre sealant[10] | | | Reversing camera with dynamic guide lines in display The reversing camera offers convenience and added safety. Integrated in the vehicle rear, the camera transmits an image of the area behind the vehicle to the (optional) central COMAND Online multimedia system. The camera image not only makes parking easier but also aids in manoeuvring on terrain with visibility restrictions.
New optics with digital image transmission and additional electronic zoom functions ensure an optimum image for all driving situations. When manoeuvring, the driver can select the "back-in" mode, in which dynamic guidance lines indicate the corresponding path of the vehicle.
If the vehicle is fitted with a trailer coupling, a further mode is made available. Firstly, in "Back-In" mode a guidance line showing the vehicle centre axis helps the driver align the centre of the car with the drawbar. Once the vehicle is close to the trailer drawbar, Zoom mode makes it possible to approach the drawbar with absolute precision. The driver is helped by a dynamic guidance line that shows the path of the trailer coupling for every steering angle.
| | Lane Keeping Assist can detect a traffic lane based on the road markings and, if the car is about to leave its lane unintentionally, warn the driver by making the steering wheel vibrate gently. If the indicator is operated beforehand or the steering wheel is consciously turned, the system assumes that the lane change is intentional and does not emit a warning.
| | Blind Spot Assist, visual/audible warning system Blind Spot Assist uses two radar sensors in the rear bumper to monitor the blind spot at speeds above 30 km/h and can warn the driver against dangerous lane changes if the system detects another road user in the critical area to the right or left of the vehicle.
| | Traffic Sign Assist, road sign recognition and display of speed limits in instrument cluster This expanded system is based on the existing Speed Limit Assist system. The traffic signs are recognised optically by a camera system installed behind the windscreen.
The functionality of the system has been extended to include, apart from traffic signs as up to the present, "no overtaking" and "no entry" signs as well as the respective signs lifting the restrictions. The traffic signs detected are compared with the traffic signs stored in the system, and displayed if they coincide. Apart from a plausibility check against the signs stored in it, the system also makes use of data from the navigation system.

Thanks to a newly developed function, the automatic opening and closing can take it to the position which was selected last. The sliding sunroof is operated by the multifunction switch in the overhead control panel. When the multifunction switch in the overhead control panel is moved beyond a pressure point in the appropriate direction and released, the sliding sunroof automatically moves to the relevant final position (e.g. tilting, opening, closing).
When locking the vehicle with the remote control or when using KEYLESS GO with the door lock elements, the tilting/sliding sunroof can be closed by pressing and holding the locking button. If the button is released, the closing procedure stops. The "summer opening" function can be activated via the electronic key, which also activates the seat ventilation feature of the climatised seat (if this feature is present) on the driver's side.
In conjunction with the rain sensor continuously variable control of the wiper speed is extended to include the function "automatic closing of the sliding sunroof when raining".With the onset of rain or in extreme temperatures, the sliding sunroof is automatically moved to the tilt position.

| | EASY-PACK Quickfold rear seat, folding with a 1/3:2/3 split, including convenience operation in boot The EASY-PACK Quickfold rear seat backrests make possible an individual extension of the load capacity by folding down the backrests.
The rear seat is split 1/3 : 2/3, and each backrest section can be folded down separately. Thus, folding down the seat cushions and backrests provides an individual extension of the loading capacity. It is not necessary to remove the head restraints before folding down the backrests. The backrests are released via release handles accessed from the luggage compartment. The load-securing rings in the boot are particularly suitable for transporting items when the rear bench seat backrest is folded down.

| | | | | THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control[4], [7] The THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control system allows the driver and front passenger to adapt the climate in their respective seats to suit their individual requirements – independently of each other. The system keeps the temperature at the desired level automatically, even in strong sunlight. To this end, sensors register the temperature inside and outside the vehicle, controlling the heating, cooling and fan for each temperature zone individually, according to requirements. - To suit every taste: There are three climate styles (DIFFUSE, MEDIUM and FOCUS) available for selection in automatic mode. You can use these styles to adjust the interior climate to your individual preferences. Factors such as outside temperature, humidity and sunlight are taken into account. A diffuser panel on the dashboard reduces draughts.
- Clean air: Dust and noxious-gas sensors guarantee that virtually all the pollutants remain outside. If required the air vents can close automatically.
- Pleasant climate in the second row as well: Passengers in the rear seats have the option of individually controlling the climate control for the rear area: intensity, direction and desired temperature can be conveniently set at the push of a button.
| | Heated multifunction steering wheel[3] The multifunction steering wheel features a steering wheel heating system that heats it to 35 ºC, gearshift paddles to manually operate the transmission's gears and 12 function buttons for operating the display menus in the instrument cluster, and for controlling the radio volume. The steering wheel heating is switched on with a rotary switch behind the steering wheel. A heat mat inside the multifunction steering wheel heats up the steering wheel rim to a temperature of 37 ºC, and then goes into control mode. The temperature then oscillates between 34 ºC and 38 ºC. If the steering wheel heating is no longer needed, it can be actively switched off.

The rocker switch or pushbutton control for each seat can be set to normal or rapid heating.
In the rapid heating setting, the system automatically changes to "normal" mode after approx. 5 minutes. The seat heating is automatically switched off completely after around 30 minutes. It can be also be switched off earlier than this manually. Seat heating is also switched off automatically if the battery charge is too low.
| | Climatised front seats (heating and ventilation), perforated leather The climatised seats improve ride comfort on longer trips and reduce perspiration thanks to a pleasant air flow and selectable seat heating. Fans integrated in the seat upholstery uniformly distribute a flow of air in three intensity levels under the leather backrest and cushion covers. The air flows through the fine perforation and quickly cools down the surface of the seats to a pleasant temperature – even if the vehicle has been heated by intense sunlight for a longer period of time. On cold days you can turn on the three-level adjustable seat heating, which guarantees together with the air flow that wet clothes dry faster.
| | The ski bag holds up to 4 pairs of skis and can be accessed from the boot. This way the skis are not soiled during the journey by being transported on the roof, and due to the absence of a roof carrier system the vehicle’s aerodynamic profile is not impaired, which means there is no increase of fuel consumption.
The ski bag allows unproblematic loading and unloading of the sports equipment, and affects neither the seat position of the front seats nor that of the outer rear seats. With the help of the retaining strap or retaining bracket the ski bag is secured in the footwell.
| | Auxiliary heater and ventilation with remote control[3] The auxiliary heater provides pleasant temperatures and clear windows even before the journey begins – and on frosty days. The heater has an output of five kilowatts and functions independently of the engine. It can be activated with a switch in the vehicle, using remote control from a distance of up to 300 metres or via a timer function.
